Shingle Style Greenwich
Renovation / Addition

Our clients had lived in this house for about a decade when they finally decided they had had enough of living in the two octagonal “pods” of the 60’s home. Although they loved the site and many things about the house, the front door was impossible to find, as it was hidden under the overhangs and between the two pods, and the house had no presence on the driveway, much less the street. So our orders were to work with the existing plan, but convert it into a more traditional looking house in the shingle style. In the end, we took down one of the pods and built a new rectangular wing, but the other pod remained and with some modifications to the roof overhang and trim, it merges nicely into the new addition. Inside, the front hall showcases the new stair to the new second floor bedrooms, and the addition holds the new kitchen, family room, dining room and billiard room. The new entry leads visitors into a hall with views through the dining room and out to the beautifully landscaped backyard and patio, which is accessed from the kitchen, family room, dining room, and living room. The existing master suite was updated with a new bath and dressing rooms as well.
